Empowerment Ritual many adaptations by Andra to an original anonymous ritual

This ritual will increase your magical powers and energy.

I altered this ritual almost entirely, choosing to use personal symbols as opposed to runes. (That is, symbols personal to the person practicing the ritual.) I consider this one of the most important rituals to perform, as it will truly increase your powers tenfold.

Direct passage from the author:

"The purpose of this ritual is to tap into your own personal lifeforce and amplify it into a personal statement of self confidence and strength. Afterwards, when you feel yourself dragging in one area or another, concentrate on the appropriate symbol in the appropriate color for a bit, and you will find yourself tapping back into the energies you established in the ritual."

You will need:

A set of crayons including red, orange, yellow, green, sky blue, dark blue, violet, black, grey, white, silver, and gold.
A medium to work on--cloth or paper on which all the colors will show up.
A red candle
Fiery scented incense, such as sage or cedar.

First, establish your working circle, after you've gathered all your materials together. Make sure you have a comfortable place to sit and draw. You'll be here a while.

Face the east and say:

"Spirits of the East, powers of Air, I ask that you be present at this spell-working. Help me find inspiration and visualize the symbols clearly that I may partake of their essence."

Face the south and say:

"Spirits of the South, powers of Fire, I ask that you be present at this spell-working. Help me find the spirit within to empower the symbols and tune into their color energy."

Face the west and say:

"Spirits of the West, powers of Water, I ask that you be present at this spell-working. Help me to seek the mystery within, that the symbolsI draw here may work upon my emotions for my Highest Good."

Face the north and say:

"Spirits of the North, powers of Earth, I ask that you be present at this spell-working. Help me to manifest the symbols in the third-dimensional world so that their energies may become a part of my physical existence."

Face the sky and say:

"Father Sky, I ask that you watch over me in this spell-working. Lend me your wisdom so that I may bring safely link my inner vision with the outer Self."

Place your hands on the earth and say:

"Mother Earth, I ask that you watch over me in this spell-working. Let me ground myself deeply in you and draw on your strength and energy to sustain me in my work."

Face your altar in the center of the circle and say:

"Sacred center, Spirit of all that is, of whom we are all only aspects, unite this sphere into a protected space for the spell-working I plan to do here."

Using the red crayon, visualize the color as life essence. Draw a human body, using a star-like shape.

Draw the first symbol that comes to your mind when you think of strength and power. (Draw it in red below the human body shape.)

Now take the orange crayon. This color represents vitality, potency, courage- draw the first symbol of these qualities that comes to mind slightly above and to the left of the last symbol.

With the yellow crayon in hand, concentrate on intellect, and your request for knowledge. Draw a symbol of this directly to the left of the human body shape.

Using the green crayon, visualize expansion, abundance, prosperity, growth, love. When you have felt its energy, draw a symbol of above and to the left of the human body.

Take up the sky blue crayon, and feel it's energy of expression, communication, spiritual gain, joy, and self-achievement. Draw a symbol of those directly above the central symbol (body).

Using a dark blue crayon, draw a symbol to the lower-right of the last symbol. This one should represent synthesis and inner wisdom. It should align with the green shape.

In violet, which represents spirituality and guidance, draw a symbol of those traits directly to the right of the red central sign.

White is used to link the life-force. Draw a symbol that represents a cycle or strong bond below and to the right of the central symbol.

This main pattern is complete. It should resemble a circle of colors and symbols surrounding the body.

Now, trace from the central body, directly to the left. Here, you should come upon the yellow symbol. To the left of that symbol, you will draw another sign, in silver. Hold the silver crayon and feel it's energy, imagine the journey you are embarking on, and draw a symbol of it.

The gold crayon represents activity. Draw your symbol of activation to the far-right (lined up horizontally with the silver symbol).

Using black, feel and see the changes you want occuring, the power of this ritual going to work. Draw a symbol of this directly beneath the red symbol under the body. (The bottom of the page, centered.)

Give blessings to all invoked gods, goddesses, and spirits, using a chant to each quarter like this:

"Spirits of the east, powers of air, thank you for your presence and aid in this work. Depart in peace, my thanks and blessings."

Open the circle, release the energy, and say:

<P"TO p and

Hang the resulting picture up somewhere where you can see it often. When you need any of the specific traits energized in each symbol, simply think of that particular color and symbol as depicted in your masterpiece!

Psychic Spell by Wind

A spell to open the third eye (psychic sight) goes as follows.

Fill a small purple bag (or a piece of cloth that you can wrap herbs in and tie up) with as many of the following herbs as you can:

  • mugwort
  • acacia
  • honeysuckle
  • peppermint
  • rosemary
  • thyme
  • yarrow
  • cloves
  • dandelion
  • lilac
  • lavendar
  • calendula

Gather the edges of the cloth and tie a string around it if you are using a cloth, or if you used a small purple bag, tie it shut. (Drawstring bags work best.)

Using a dark violet marker, draw an eye on the front of the bag. Rub the bag on the third eye chakra (forehead) whenever performing divination or needing psychic sight, and sleep with it under your pillow every night.

Third Eye Ritual

Perform this ritual to improve psychic powers three days before the moon is full, and preferably when it is in either the astrological sign of Cancer, Pisces or Scorpio. Begin by brewing a strong magickal tea made from yarrow or mugwort (herbs that stimulate the psychic senses) and then light thirteen purple coloured votive candles to help attract psychic influences. Drink the tea and then gaze fixedly into a magick mirror, black bowl full of water, crystal ball, or crystal pyramid as you chant thrice the following incantation:

"I invoke thee, oh Asarial,
Archangel of Neptune
And ruler of clairvoyant powers.
I ask thee now to open my third eye
And show me the hidden light.
Let me see the future.
Let me see the past.
Let me perceive the divine
Kingdoms of the unknown.
Let me understand the wisdom
Of the mighty universe.
So mote it be!"

After chanting, relax, breathe slowly and concentrate on opening your Third Eye. Do not permit any negative thought to contaminate your mind. The Third Eye, an invisible chakra located in the middle of the forehead above the space between the eyebrows, is the human body’s highest source of power, supernormal sight and clairvoyant vision.

Memory Rite

This is a rite by Fester Kegdaemon used to rid oneself of potentially damaging block, or denied memories- "The premise for this rite is that we all have blocked memories in ourselves, that we either won't, or can't face. They may include everything from being teased at school by our 'friends' to emotional, physical, or mental abuse by parents, loved ones, etc. The purpose of this rite is to draw these hidden memories up into a closed box, open it in a manner similar to the Pandora myth, and meet, greet, and make peace with the memories, as they can be very detrimental to one's ego growth if kept hidden. Instead of finding hope in our boxes though, we will find acceptance, and peace with oneself, and one's past. "

This rite is good for anyone, even those who assume they have had perfect childhoods. You don't always realize the past is dragging you down until it is too late, and you would be amazed by what you can find out about yourself!

You will need:

  • Yellow candles
  • Kamea of sol
  • A box of any shape, or size
  • A solar incense

(And, music of a childlike nature may be used to enhance the atmosphere.)

Preparation:

The box should have a lid. Paint the inside glossy black, or line it with an irregular reflective surface, such as aluminum foil. The outside should be decorated with any drawings, pictures, or whatever one may want to help evoke a childlike state of mind, and to help trigger childhood memories.

Start with an opening of any sort you feel comfortable with. Light candles and incense as desired.

State the intent: "It is my will to greet my past, and accept it for what it is."

Recite the invocation:

"I call the past to meet the present,
that the future may be bright.
I bring myself forth from the dark,
and hold me to the light.
Let not the past control my present,
let not my future be dark as night.
I meet and greet me with open arms,
and move back into the light."

At this point, one person sits in the center of the group with their box, keeping it closed. She focuses on the box while the rest of the participants circle around, teasing, insulting, degrading her. At this point, the teasing should not be too personal. When she reaches gnosis, she opens the box, and gazes inside, seeing whatever she sees. At this point, the taunting should reach a more personal, and vicious attitude. This continues until they close their box again.

The box then is dealt with in whatever manner she sees fit. It can be destroyed, left open in a spot of sunlight, kept for future uses, as it may be a good idea to do this more than once.

When the first person is finished, another takes her place, until the entire group has a turn.

Banish by laughter and embraces.

Confidence Spell by Wynn, used with permission.

You will need:

  • A lionhead charm (buy or make one)
  • Yellow candle
  • Essential oil of rose, orange, or hazel

Buy, or make, a charm that resembles a lion's head. (It can be as simple as you want it to be as long as you know what it is.) Pass it three times through the flame of a yellow candle, meditating on your esteem and the respect you truly deserve. Then infuse the charm with your energy by annointing it with the oil. Wear it (on a chain or in your pocket, wherever!) on you, and when you see or touch it, you will feel your confidence build within you.

I know it's hard to find a lion's head charm, and you may wonder what the easiest way would be to make one. I would suggest taking a flat, smooth stone, clean it off, and use either orange paint or a thin permanent orange marker to draw a simple lion head on it. This way it will be fire-proof, and you can keep it in your pocket.

Reach gnosis

This rite employs reaching gnosis by an excitatory method and altering one's mood via visualization. It is based on Baudelaire's prose poem (from Paris Spleen) called "Get Drunk," and, as in the poem, proposes to transcend the burden of Time by being "drunk." As you will see from the poem, this "drunk" does not necessarily refer to alcohol.

The poem - Get Drunk

One should always be drunk. That's the great thing; the only question. Not to feel the horrible burden of Time weighing on your shoulders and bowing you to the earth, you should be drunk without respite.
Drunk with what? With wine, with poetry, or with virtue, as you please. But get drunk.
And if sometimes you should happen to awake, on the stairs of a palace, on the green grass of a ditch, in the dreary solitude of your own room, and find that your drunkeness is ebbing or has vanished, ask the wind and the wave, ask star, bird, or clock, ask everything that moans, everything that flows, everything that sings, everything that speaks, ask them the time; and the wind, the wave, the star, the bird and the clock will all reply: "It is Time to get drunk! If you are not to be the martyred slaves of Time, be perpetually drunk! With wine, with poetry, or with virtue, as you please."

MATERIALS NEEDED FOR THE RITE

A piece of paper
Ink (or some other staining substance)

THE RITE

  1. On your piece of paper, draw a clock of any sort.
  2. Stain your hand (or just your thumb) with ink.
  3. Say the key closing lines of the poem [a slight modification to the last line has been made]: "It is Time to get drunk! If you are not to be the martyred slaves of Time, be perpetually drunk! With wine, with poetry, with virtue, or as you please."
  4. Get "drunk" - think of something that makes you or has made you in the past absolutely giddy, breathless, delirious, and unable to sit still. Visualize yourself in this excited state and recreate those symptoms. Wave your arms, whirl around, hyperventilate, fall over, laugh, smile, bump into things - whatever, but get giddy and drunk. Accelerate this giddy elation until you can't stand it any longer, and then continue in that unbearable state for at least half-a-minute more.
  5. Gnosis has been reached by giddiness. Take your inked hand (or thumb) and stamp the clock. You have just conquered Time by being drunk without respite in a moment of gnosis.
  6. Banish by snickering [at Time].
  7. Afterwards, attach the paper near a clock you look at often to remind the clock of your victory.
  8.

    Cloud eye

    Background Noise

This rite is loosely based upon a belief found in Hawaiin legends. In these legends, it was said that the gods and sorcerers (kupua) possessed not one, but many bodies, and could transfer their essence between these bodies as circumstances warranted. Thus, there were tree bodies, human bodies, rainbow bodies, animal bodies and cloud bodies. One body could sometimes be shared by several kupua, and a single kupua might have several bodies of each type.

    Purpose

The aim of this working is to transfer perception to another body - in this case, the cloud body. It can be thought of as an "out of one body and into another" experience.

    Materials Needed

An open space, dry ice, passivity

    The Rite

  9. Open by whatever means feels appropriate.
  10. Set the dry ice in the center of the working area.
  11. Participants circle deosil around the ice, chanting "Ka-ao-opua-loa" (the sharp-pointed living cloud). In the Hawaiin legends, this was the name of the kupua of the cloud people.
  12. Circling and chanting continue for 10-15 minutes, at the end of which all sit down in a circle as close to the ice as possible.
  13. All stare into the fog rising from the ice until tunnel vision sets in (the field of vision goes black except for the object focused upon).
  14. At the moment that tunnel vision occurs, say:
  15. BER WOCEP WHEBONG
    As below, so above

    NEKOZY ONGO TENFEMET SOCAGI
The cloud is in my eye

    KA-AO-OPUA LOA HATUNN DOUCK
    Ka-ao-opua-loa carry my sight

  16. Participants begin spinning at increasing speed with eyes closed, all the while repeating
  17. TENFEMET DOUCK

  18. When spinning is no longer possible, partcipants lie on their backs and open the eyes completely (no squinting) and focus on the first cloud they see.
  19. All repeat:
  20. BER WHEBONG WOCEP
    as above, so below

    NEKOZY ONGO TENFEMET TRESLIX
my eye is in the cloud

    XIQUAL TENFEMET-NEKOZY
    phenomenize the cloud-eye

  21. Visualize a fog exactly like that rising from the dry ice leaving the eyes and rushing up to join with the clouds. Observe it entirely passively, and with the inner voice repeat "This self is Tenfemet-Douck, the cloud that sees."
  22. When tunnel vision again sets in, close the eyes and open them again quickly. Look down over the terrain that passes below your cloud-eye. Note details if desired, but do not attempt to influence direction or speed of motion. All control of these should be left to the wind.
  23. When you have achieved your desired results, switch out of the passive mode and attempt to influence direction or speed. Find yourself back in your human body looking up at the clouds.
  24. Banish by laughter, and with other means if desired.
  25.

The ego proyect (fire and ice)

This Rite is cast under the belief that the human Ego has two equal and opposite aspects that when balanced will allow the Ego to grow in harmony with all the other aspects of our selves. These two forms that the Ego takes are contraction and projection. These can also be called by other names:

    • CONTRACTION
    • PROJECTION
    • CHARGING
    • DISCHARGING
    • ORDER
    • CHAOS
    • ICE (ISA)
    • FIRE (FEHU)
  1. The RUNES ISA and FEHU will be used to evoke the two sides of our Egos and our Selves. This Rite may be used for works of Illumination and Self-Enchantment.
  2. Tools and Materials Needed:
  3. Small mirror (large enough to see one's own eyes and forehead at close range), Yellow candles, Sun light or Solar-like light, Solar incense (frankincense, amber, etc.), and any other signs, charts, symbols, or setting that suggest a Sun Rite.
  4. THE RITE
  5. The only opening that can ever be used is the Vortex Rite! (or something else)
  6. Statement of Intent: "We will to harmonize the dualistic nature of our Egos."
  7. Invocation:
  8. The Solar Sides, the Center, the Sun
Ra, Ra, Ra, Ra, Ra, Ra!
The Burning God, the great ONE
Ra, Ra, Ra, Ra, Ra, Ra!
    Ice and Fire
    Urgarth Kicfav1
    Sign our Contracts
    Aid us in our Projects
Ra, Ra, Ra, Ra, Ra, Ra!
  9. Isa Posture: arms at sides, slowly turn counterclockwise six times while visualizing the body as a pillar made of Ice in Darkness. With each turn, chant:
  10. SSSSSS iiiiii2
  11. Fehu Posture: arms extended over head at an angle. Turn clockwise six times while visualizing solar Fire energy projecting outward from the body, with a constant chant of:
  12. FFFFFFFFFFFFF3
  13. Repeat steps 3 and 4 six times, with a few moments between each to refocus.
  14. Stand in the Isa posture and enter a state of no mind. Attempt to divine Ego in a state of No-Mind (samadhi), and/or gain illumination about the Ego, and ideas on whether or not you wish to make changes to it.
  15. Hold your mirror in your left hand and draw the Solar planetary sigil with the right. Visualize the symbol in front of your face for a few moments while holding the mirror with both hands, motionless, in the Fehu Posture. At this time, orders can be given to the Ego, realizations be said to self, or the harmonious outcome of balanced and constant contradiction and projection be visualized. Also at this time, a pre-made mantra for overall intent or Ego change could be chanted.
  16. Sycuz; ha ha ha ha ha ha, and now we are better than everyone else.
  17. MAGICIAN GENERAL'S WARNING: LEAVING VORTICES OPEN MAY BE DAMAGING TO THE PSYCHE!!!

THE FOURFOLD FORTRESS (to become a leader)

The paradigm represented by this Working is that regardless of how leadership is ultimately expressed, there are four attributes that one must possess to become a leader in the first place. These four are wisdom (the ability to size up situations), empathy (the ability to know the feelings of others), decisiveness (the ability to act quickly and independently), and foresight (the ability to anticipate situations). The recognition of these traits by others can be entitled respect, love, trust and honor (or awe). Note that a leader is not here to be taken as the same thing as a ruler, who will more often rise to power (and maintain it) through oppressive or threatening actions.

In this rite, each participant is in turn empowered as a leader and then passes on this empowerment to the others present (or, if used as a solo Working, to others whom they visualize as being present.) Each MO brings forth these four attributes of the Blue Power, and combines them into a fortress. The fortress has a two-fold purpose of itself; it is a place of sanctuary, and a place from which to launch aggressive action if needed. Either of these roles may fall to the leader at a given time; it is important for the leader (if hishi is to remain a leader at all) to know how others would feel about specific actions, the ramifications of those actions, the timing of a given action, and, of course which action is appropriate in the first place. This, then, is a ritual with the intent of bringing forth the ability to apply Blue Magick, rather than to simply try to get more power.

The Four God-Forms
Four deities will be invoked over the course of this Working. Their names, and a brief description of the appropriate visualization, follow.

Zeus:

The classic Greek god, visualized here as seated before the MO and pondering some thought or decision.

Vishnu:

Pictured here as an effeminate, but male, entity with sky-blue skin and four arms. He is dressed all in white with resplendent jewelry.

Vainamoinen:

An old, robust man dressed in a conical helmet and furs and riding upon a sleigh that moves by itself.

Odhinn:

The Norse All-Father is here pictured as a mature warrior with one eye.

Have on hand the following:
Sigils made from the names of each of the god-forms, the kamea of Jupiter, and incense burner burning the Jupiter incense in great quantities, a bell or gong, a trumpet, and a stringed instrument (a small harp is best.) The working area should be lit only by blue light and/or a blue candle. Place the trumpet at the lower left corner of the kamea, the stringed instrument in the upper left, the incense burner on the upper right, and the bell on the lower right. The Zeus sigilis placed upon the trumpet, the Vainamoinen sigil upon the harp, the Odhinn sigil on top of the incense burner, and the Vishnu sigil atop the bell.

The Working

  1. An opening rite is performed.
  2. The first participant to act as the Main Operator (MO) recites the following statement of intent, with the other participants repeating after hir:
  3. I call upon the Ray of Blue
I command the powers of commandment
With these nine crosses in my view
    I will power and empowerment!
  4. The MO goes to the altar and takes up the trumpet, and stares intently at the sigil of Zeus until it is etched into their memory. Hishi then looks away and says:
  5. Bejadoz inguch ulangule wokac Gezmeq renceb!
    Fach lohixoz arefee cho Gezmeq!
(Hear the sound by which Zeus approaches!
I invoke the wisdom of Zeus!)
  6. The MO continues sounding the trumpet again and again until Gnosis is achieved. Upon this occurring, hishi chews up the sigil of Zeus and proclaims in four directions:
  7. Behold the first corner of the four-fold fortress!
Behold, the first cornerstone is laid!

Hishi then swallows the sigil and place hir hand upon the number 16 in the kamea, proclaiming

    Arefee Gezmeq bicow fach!
(The wisdom of Zeus is within me!)
    I am worthy of respect!
    I am empowered!
    I am Zeus!

Hishi raises the left hand with the elbow bent, and the right arm across the chest and chants Emurt Inum 16 times.

  8. The MO next looks single-mindedly at the Vishnu sigil until it is memorized, and then looks away from it and says:
  9. Bejadoz inguch ulangule wokac Vishnu renceb!
    Fach lohixoz bhavev Vishnu!
(Hear the sound by which Vishnu approaches!
I invoke the empathy of Vishnu!)

Gnosis is achieved by banging the gong or ringing the bell whilst spinning slowly with the arms outstretched.

  10. Hishi chews up the sigil of Vishnu and proclaims;
  11. Behold the second corner of the four-fold fortress!
Behold, the second cornerstone is laid!
  12. The sigil of Vishnu is swallowed, the hand placed upon the number 13 in the kamea, and the proclamation made:
  13. Bhavev Vishnu bicow fach!
(The empathy of Vishnu is within me!)
    I am worthy of love!
    I am empowered!
    I am Vishnu!

Hishi raises the left hand with the elbow bent, and the right arm across the chest and chants Emurt Inum 13 times.

  14. The MO takes up the stringed instrument and sigil of Vainamoinen, and focuses entirely upon the sigil of Vainamoinen. When it is etched into the mind's eye, hishi turns away and proclaims;
  15. Bejadoz inguch ulangule wokac Vainamoinen renceb!
    Fach lohixoz pugusu cho Vainamoinen!
(Hear the sound by which Vainamoinen approaches!
I invoke the decisiveness of Vainamoinen!)
  16. Gnosis is now achieved by playing the harp while rocking back and forth rapidly. When the Gnostic state is achieved, the MO chews the Vainamoinen sigil and proclaims;
  17. Behold the third corner of the four-fold fortress!
Behold! The third cornerstone is laid!
  18. The sigil is swallowed, and the left hand laid upon the square marked 4 in the kamea. The MO now proclaims;
  19. Pugusu Vainamoinen bicow fach!
(The decisiveness of Vainamoinen is within me!)
    I am worthy of trust!
    I am empowered!
    I am Vainamoinen!

Hishi raises the left hand with the elbow bent, and the right arm across the chest and says Emurt Inum 4 times.

  20. The MO takes up concentrates upon the sigil of Odhinn exclusively. When it has been memorized, the MO turns away and proclaims;
  21. Bhucoof chochexaianofo ulangule Odhinn abfov camvang nekozy!
    Fach lohixoz joachabim-nekozy Odhinn!
(Feel the sensation by which Odhinn lost his eye!
I invoke the foresight of Odhinn!)
  22. The MO now closes hir left eye and leans into the cloud of incense smoke until Gnosis is achieved.
  23. The sigil of Odhinn is chewed up, and the MO proclaims;
  24. Behold the fourth corner of the fourfold fortress!
Behold! The fourth cornerstone is laid!
  25. The MO now swallows the sigil and places hir hand upon the square in the kamea marked 1. Hishi now proclaims;
  26. Joachabim-nekozy bicow fach!
    I am worthy of honor!
    I am empowered!
    I am Odhinn!

Hishi raises the left hand with the elbow bent, and the right arm across the chest and says Emurt Inum once.

  27. The MO now pauses and visualizes hirself standing upon the central point of the kamea with the edges off the kamea being four great walls around hir, and the aforementioned god-forms occupying towers at the corners. The light within the fortress is brilliant blue, and emanates from the heart region of the MO hirself. When this visualization is full and strong, the MO makes a motion with hir arms as if opening a gate. Each of the other participants is issued in in turn.
  28. Each participant extends their left hand, upon which the new-born leader inscribes their personal sigil with blue ink, while saying;
  29. With this mark do I knight thee.
With this glyph are you empowered.
    This mark is my benediction,
For all my blessings go with thee.
  30. A new MO comes forth and repeats steps 1-20. This continues until every participant has served as MO once. Once this has been completed, all participants join hands and chant Emurt Inum 34 times.
  31. Banish by laughter.

Notes:
While the four god-forms are being invoked, the MO should visualize the form of each god, or the symbols thereof. The other participants, at the same time, should offer whatever aid they can by visualizing the MO as the godform itself. Furthermore, they should respond properly at appropriate times, albeit informally and individually. Thus, when the MO says "I am worthy of respect", the other participants should respond with, "I respect you", etc.

Spell to call joy into life

Magic to call joy into one's life should be performed at the Waxing Moon. Get three cherry-red candles. Gather flowers, whatever kinds are in season, and decorate your altar with them. When you have viewed the Moon that evening, light your three candles and dedicate them to the Fates. Joy is very much in their domain. Say: "Red is my blood and red is my laughter, Red is the color of life and of love. Gracious Old Ladies, who weave in deep dark places, Bless me with joy and bless me with luck." Perform this honoring of the Fates three nights in a row, and burn the candles a little each night. The last night, allow your candles to burn down. For incense you can burn red clover. Once the spell is finished, dispose of it by taking a little bit of the candle dripping, dried flowers, and ashes from the incense to a living body of water, cast them in, turn your back, and don't look back.

Spell to bring peace to your

Ground. Center. Cast the Circle. "Hail, Guardians of the Watchtowers of the East, Powers of Air. Here stands one in need of protection of the mind. Let the light of dawn surround me in safety, Let the Aspen tree ground me to Mother Earth, Let the eastern wind hld me in the palm of its hand, That I may grow in goodness and light, in the service of the Mother. Hail, Guardians of the Watchtowers of the South, Powers of Fire. Here stands one in need of protection of the spirit. Let the noon light surround me in safety, Let the Almond tree ground me to Mother Earth, Let the southern wind flow around me t protect me, That I may grow in goodness and light, in the service of the Mother. Hail, Guardians of the Watchtowers of the West, Powers of Water. Here stands one in need of protection of her emotions. Let the dusk of twilight shroud me in protection, Let the Willow tree ground me to Mother Earth, Let the western wind shroud me from all evil, That I may grow in goodness and light, in the service of the Mother. Hail, Guardians of the Watchtowers of the North, Powers of Earth. Here stands one in need of protection of her body. Let the dark of midnight shroud me in protection, Let the Oak tree ground me to Mother Earth, Let the northern wind keep me from all harm, That I may grow in gooodness and light, in the service of the Mother. Hear me, oh guardians of the elements and quarters. I stand a child of the universe Beset on all sides by those who wish me evil. I ask not that you change them, for their will is their own, But grant me strength, that I may shine in the light Growing in goodness in the service of Mankind and Mother Earth."

Gnostic Pentagram Ritual by Peter Carrol

[note: this is excerpted from Peter Carroll's "Liber Kaos", a very good primer on Chaos Magick recommended to any student of chaos magick who is serious about hir pursuits in the occult arts.]

The Gnostic Pentagram Ritual begins with a visualization of radiance in five areas of the body. Each visualization is assisted by a vibration of one of the vowels sounds I, E, A, O, U. The sounds are vibrated loudly and each is sustained for and entire slow exhalation. Each should produce a physical sensation in the part of the body to which it is attributed. In effect the body is being played like a musical instrument with each part resonating in sympathy to a particular tone.

Subsequently, pentagrams are drawn in the air at four points around the operator. The pentagrams 'are drawn and an anti-clockwise quarter turn f the whole body is executed after each pentagram thus returning the body to its original position. The pentagrams should be strongly visualized with the eyes opened or closed as desired. Each should be accompanied by a loud intonation of all five vowel sounds I, E, A, O, U, in a single exhalation, with one bar of the pentagram being drawn for each sound. The IEAOU mantra is used here largely to block discursive thought. Finally, the opening sequence in which the visualization of radiance in various areas of the body, reinforced by the individual I, E, A, O, U mantras, is repeated. The ritual may be elaborated at will, for example, by adding colors to the visualized radiances or by adding supplementary pentagrams above and below to form a sphere around the operator.

This ritual can be used in a number of ways:

  • To establish balance, concentration and control before and after more complex rituals.
  • As visualization practice at any time.
  • As a preliminary exorcism of unwanted mental or psychic phenomena.
  • As an aid to healing, particulary self-healing.

The techniwues emplyed are: mantar vibration, visualization assisted by gesture, breath control.

The ritual entails the visualization of images of radiance within specific areas of the body. These areas correspond with the bodily chakras of some oriental traditions but not others. There is actually little congruence between the various oriental systems. What all these systems are designed to do is to create psychic images of various parts of the body to facilitate greater psychosomatic control. The Gnostic Pentagram Ritual is named in commemoration of certain magickal schools of antiquity which designated the magical force of the universe IAO:

Ritual Procedure

  1. Stand facing any preferred direction.
  2. Inhale fully. Exhale slowly sustaining the sound "I" (a high-pitched ieeeee! sound) while visualizing a radiance of energy in the head area.
  3. Inhale fully. Exhale slowly sustaining the sound "E" (a lower-pitched eeeeh! sound) while visualizing a radiance of enerfy in the throat area.
  4. Inhale fully. Exhale slowly sustaining the sound "A" (a deep aaaah! sound) while visualizing a radiance of energy in the heart and lungs, which spreads to the muscles of the limbs.
  5. As in 2, but the sound "O" (ooooh!) in the belly area.
  6. As in 2, but the sound "U" (a very deep uuuur!) in the genital/anal area.
  7. Repat 6. Then 5, 4, 3, 2, working back toward the head.
  8. Inhale fully. Exhale slowly, forming each of the IEAOU sounds in turn while, with the left arm, drawing in the air a pentagram, which is also visualized strongly.
  9. Make a quarter turn to the left and repeat 8, then continue to turn and draw the remaining pentagrams with mantra and visualization until returning to the starting position.
  10. Repeat steps 2-7 inclusive.

Healing

To assist in healing any part of the body, intone the sound and visualize the radiance which corresponds to the affected part continuously for 5-10 minutes, or for as long as concentration can be maintained.

Sigil Magick

Traditional

Here's the general approach to Sigil Magick, as it was created by Austin Osman Spare:

You formulate a statement of intent, like:

It is my will to get a well-paid job

It's best NOT to use the negative form, like "I don't want to", or "that this doesn't happen" etc.
Then you knock out all repeating letters.

ITSMYWLOGEAPDJB

From this letters you form a sigil and/or a mantra.

Now you have to charge it. You can use various forms to do so. Methods range from orgasm, meditation, spinning, chanting and use of drugs.

It is important to forget the original wish after it has been fired off.

A new method

As usual, you formulate your wish, but instead of creating a sigil of it, you sit down and communicate with your sub-consciousness. The task of the sub-consciousness is to create the sigil for you. You then charge it.

How to communicate with the sub-consciousness

First, sit down comfortably and calm down. This is best done with some breathing exercises. As soon as you're calm and in a light trance, call the sub-consciousness from within you to manifest in a specivied part of your body with a certain feeling like warmth, a twitch etc. Continue this practice until this feeling is intense enough.

Then go on to ask the sub-consciousness to show you some reactions for

Yes
No
Dunno

You can also use this for divination ;) After you can perform this exercise at will, you're ready to start using this method to create and charge sigla.

You create the wish as usual and then you get into your trained asana and invite the sub-consciousness. Then you present it the wish and ask it to create a sigil, what that wish represents for it, for you.

To see if the wish is acceptable in general but still too fague, you have to agree with it to show you a circle around the sigil. The more you see of the circle the better is the wish formulated. As soon as the circle is closed, the sigil is ready to cast.

You should cast the sigil right after it manifested before your inner eye completely. You do this by feeding it with energy.

Imagine a white line coming out of your solar plexus and flowing into the sigil. See, as it starts to live. Then remove the link to you and fire it off.

Personality Override

This rite is intended to change the personality of yourself or specified person. It can be used to enhance the personal attributes for better or for worse.

You need:

A Chaostar with inverted rays like this one:

Then you need to assemble 8 attributes you wish to enhance. Like Stubbornness, Honesty, Depravity, Compassion or whatever.

Sigilize these qualities, and draw them into the rays of the Chaostar. One in each ray.

In the centre, place a representation of the target. You can either sigilize the name of the person, or place a photo in it, or if you're lucky and have something personal like a hair, finger-nail or whatever, place that in it.

The Rite:

As opening I performed the Chaostar stadha (adapted from the hagalaz stadha)

Stand facing the prepared Chaostar with your arms raised high above your head.

Start turning widdershins, and lower your hands slowly, your arms should be moved to 45°, then 90° and when you're facing the opposite direction of your starting point, rest on your sides.

Continue turning, and start raising your arms again, until you're in your starting position and face the Chaostar again.

Opening words:

I summon the Forces of Chaos
Around and above me flare the Chaospheres
Chaotic energy surrounds me
The temple is consecrated

Statement of Intend:

It is my will to improve the personality of <name>

Next follows the summoning of the qualities you picked.

<quality> I summon thee into this ray

While summoning the attribute, point with either your wand or your finger at the appropriate sigil and charge it with their meaning. That means, channel some representative picture into them.

Then create the centre of the Star, similar to servitor creation. Imagine the target into the circle and merge it with the sigil.

Thou art XXX
Thou art his/her magickal twin
As thou art, s/he shalt be
Thy purpose is to raise
The attributes contained in thee
<name the attributes and draw the sigil from the rays into the centre>
Thou art linked to him/her
Thou shalt merge with him/her
His/Her attributes shall rise

That done, imagine the Chaostar blasting off into the direction of the target, hitting and entering it, and finally merging with it.

This is my Will.

Banish as you wish.

The Bottle Spell (variation of the traditional witch's bottle)

This spell can be used to neutralize the power of those who intend to hurt your reputation, in any way pose a threat to your security, or who want to do you physical harm.

Tools:
black thread
black ink or black ballpoint pin
parchment paper
1 bottle with a cork or mortar and pestle
1 white candle
4 tablespoons orris-root (or oak moss)
4 tablespoons sea salt
4 tablespoons black powdered iron (available at
pottery shops where ironstone is made)
4 tablespoons frankincense or myrrh
Mix the sea salt, orris-root powder, and iron in a bowl. Then cut a peice of parchment to fit inside your bottle and write on it in black ink:
"I neutralize the power of [name of your adversary] to do me any harm. I ask that this be correct and for the good of all. So mote it be." Roll up the parchment, tie it with black thread to bind it, and place it in the bottle. Fill the bottle with the dry ingedients. Then take the white candle and, while turning the bottle counterclockwise, drip drip wax over the cok to seal it. Last, secretly bury the bottle in a place where it will not be disturbed and no animal or person will dig it up. It should never
be opened or the power of the spell is lost.
